As we approach the solar eclipse on April 8th, I thought I would share the unique perspective of the eclipse that I witnessed on Aug 21st, 2017 high above Alliance, Nebraska. I was fortunate to be able to charter an aircraft to fly over the path of totality in a holding pattern at 39,000 ft. I invited friends and family some of which were teachers at local schools. We were treated to the experience of a lifetime as we witnessed the shadow cast by the moon approach us from the west. Our pilots turned to fly through the shadow, and we experienced the darkness of totality for what seemed like a brief moment that will forever remain in my memory. Below are some images and videos from our excellent adventure.
