In the early morning hours of Aug 28th, 2023 at 03:27:28 Mountain Daylight Time (09:27:28 UT) a bright bolide appeared south of the ZT Research Observatory in Rapid City, South Dakota. This meteor was recorded by both monochrome and color low-light surveillance cameras. What made this event so unique was the persistent smoke trail that formed during the heating of atmospheric entry. Given the fast increase in light (heating) and persistent smoke trail, I believe this meteor entered at a fairly steep angle. Interestingly, this event did not show up in the AMS Meteors observation collection so it was likely not witnessed by enough observers.

Below are a collection of YouTube videos from the recordings of the surveillance cameras.
